Beauty Destination: La Botánica. Hotel & Wellness Center.

La Botánica. Hotel & Wellness Center.

Best Time to travel: The months of December through April are considered High Season. A very good time to visit Puerto Rico is from May to June, right after the busy winter season and just before the hotter and sometimes rainy summer. Spring weather is also very pleasant, barely escaping the mid-80’s on most days.

Looking for a place to call home, feel community and be inspired for healthy living? Look no further!

La Botanica Hotel & Spa is a ayurvedic boutique hotel in San Juan, Puerto Rico that if you love nature, yoga, and vegan dinners this is the place to be.

How to get there: Uber from Airport cost about $14.00 USD or Self Street Parking

Sylvia De Marco is the mastermind behind this beauty destination. Born in Puerto Rico turned Hotelier and Ayurvedic Consultant she is well known for design & style.  The staff is known as the #cosmicfamily and are all island vibe goals.

La Botánicais more than a hotel, it embodies the culture and vibrancy of Puerto Rico. As well as honors a full Ayurvedic wellness center where they practice Ayurveda with a tropical twist.

One of our favorite parts of this experience was wandering through the house, learning about the art pieces, furniture and crafts that serve as artifacts representing a moment in La Botánica’s journey.

Their rooms are all unique with decor all hand picked by the founder Sylvia.

I loved that the rooms. branch out to an enchanting garden, and include a Vegan Ayurvedic Breakfast.

Their chefs prepare our breakfasts with fresh produce sourced from local farms many influenced by Caribbean cuisine and recipes from their abuelitas.

We stayed in the Sylvia Suite which has access to the full house, and Boutique Store & Ayurvedic Apothecary.  We were able to see their lovely selection of local goods, arts and crafts, souvenirs, jewelry, Ayurvedic products and herbal medicines.

On Friday evenings, they hosts a farm-to-table four course vegan dinner by a special vegan chef. The Vegan Dinner series invites chefs that share the same passions as Sylvia to create a four course meal in their intimate hotel for their guests and community.

Their located just outside the gated portion of the community of Ocean Park in San Juan– very close to the neighborhoods of Condado and Santurce. Approximately a 15-20 minute ride from the San Juan International Airport (SJU).

The hotel is  located just 2 blocks away from Ocean Park Beach– very easy walking distance and full of locals.

One of our favorite perks was walking to all the many amazing restaurants on the streets surrounding our hotel– particularly on the Calle Louiza directly behind them.

We had Mofongo at Raices (more touristy spot), and ceviche at La Cueva del Mar ( our favorite spot for tacos, and delicious seafood)

Try Yoko a favorite of Bad Bunny and if your there for a weekend you’ll be amazed by all the night fun waiting for you. More local area but worth the visit.

They have a sister property called Finca Victoria which is a farmhouse-style Bed & Breakfast in the heart of the small island of Vieques, Puerto Rico. It’s just a ferry ride away. A boutique Vegan hotel and ayurvedic wellness center and apothecary.
