9 Day 8 Night Beauty Journey to Oaxaca, and Mexico City for “ Dia De Los Muertos”

Join us to witness one of the most fascinating and beautiful world tradition “Dia de los Muertos in Oaxaca”, Mexico. Oaxaca is known as the center of painters, sculptors and the rich history of Mexican tradition and culture.  Oaxaca ignites all senses with the state’s vibrant culture, natural beauty and dynamic cuisine.  Oaxaca is vibrant with altars, gastronomy cuisine, and the perfume of native flowers and smoke of copal that purifies the air. We’ll be enjoying different activities to celebrate the famous Dia de los Muertos that take place from October 28th – November 5th and then head to Mexico City to dive deeper into the Mexican Culture. 


Let’s go #BeautyExploring during the day of the dead which is a true celebration of life. There’s no place more authentic then Oaxaca to celebrate this unique festival that turns into streets parades, painted faces, and is believed by indigenous mexicans the one day spirits of the dead come back to visit the living on earth. 

Graveyards are covered with flowers and candles while generations of families gather around gravesites and have a party for the deceased. Enjoying their favorite food, music, drinks, and sharing memories of each past loved one. 


On our tour well visit shops, elaborate ofrendas (altars) , costume parades, colorful markets, while learning about these ancient rituals like hair braiding, flower crowns, and herbal steam baths that you’ll see throughout the city. Our tour combines our passion for beauty and culture learning about the local way of life, while enjoying local foods, and exploring the culture, spirituality, and festivities of the famous Dia de los Muertos. Day 1 /  Arrive in Oaxaca Arrive at any time + Welcome Dinner

You will be picked up at the airport and transported to your hotel. You’ll have some free time to unwind from the flight and explore Oaxaca through its colorful streets and local markets before the welcome dinner.

Well enjoy the famous Mole which is a sauce cooked with ground chili, chocolate, and secret Mexican ingredients and the local mezcal, a libation similar to tequila. We welcome our #BeautyTravelers and get to know each other a little bit more. We’ll review our week long itinerary of activities and answer any last minute questions.

Day 2 / Beauty Exploring local Markets + Make an Altar for the souls

Today we’re #BeautyExploring during our City Tour visiting local shops, “ Zocalo” ( main square) while learning about the culture. We then visit the open air bazaar Benito Juarez, and the famous 20 de Noviembre for vibrant marigolds, palo santo, copal, and other natural products used for beauty and creating an altar for dia de los muertos. Join the local families buying decorations used to adorn their homes altars and tribute to loved one. After a long day of shopping we return back to our hotel to learn how to make the famous mole. We begin creating our altar for the souls using the ingredients purchased from the market while learning about the history of day of the dead. We suggest you bring pictures and offerings for your loved ones from back home.

Day 3 / Ancient Ritual Temezcal + Mexican Flower Crown Workshop at Frida Kahlo Galleria

Enjoy morning free time,  before departing outside of Oaxaca to take part in a Herbal Steam Bath aka known as Temezcal. An Aztec ritual for cleansing, detoxifying, and purifying one’s mind, body, and spirit. Followed by a relaxing massage using traditional indigenous techniques.  We return back to our hotel, to rest. We then take a walk to the Frida Kahlo Galleria to make our signature flower crowns to wear for the upcoming festivities. Free to explore at night the city of Oaxaca after the workshop is finished and observe the festivities as you please.

Day 4 / Day of the Dead Face Painting  Lecture + Night Tour in Cemeteries Xoxocoltan+ Pantheon San Miguel

Free time in the morning to explore the city of Oaxaca.  We meet back up mid-day to learn about the history of face painting, and have fun creating each other into the perfect day of the dead altar ego. Don’t worry they’ll be a professional on hand to make sure we’re using all the right techniques. We take a night cemetery tour to join the celebrations. You’ll have free time to walk and meet locals as they prepare their altars and share stories about their past loved ones. You’ll receive flowers, and bread ( Pan de Muerto) as a special offering. The schedule is based on what’s happening that day.

Day 5 / Day Tour to local women businesses + Hair Braiding Beauty Activity

Today we tour with a non-profit foundation En Vie Foundation that supports local women with big dreams. Well, learn about small businesses in Oaxaca relating to beauty + Fashion, and the history of their colors, clothing, and hair braiding. Well, learn how to create those beautiful hair braids seen on young girls all over the city. Our Tours Fee will be given as an interest-free loan to the women we meet on our tour.

Your night is free to roam, witness the city come alive for November 1st “ Dia de los Innocents, all Saints day. We suggest relaxing in a nearby cafe in the the city main square or opt for the many activities happening around town from street fairs, to special performances celebrating the Oaxacan Day of The Dead traditions.

Day 6 / Depart to Mexico City

Depart by bus to Mexico City. Along the way we stop for a lunch on the river in Xochimilco to admire this city on water. This eclectic place is set in the middle of a colossal city where you can discover colors your eyes have never seen before. Declared a World Heritage Site since 1987, rediscover its colors as you walk down the aisles of its markets full of iris flowers. We depart and head to our home base in Mexico City.


Day 6 / Frida Museum 

We will learn and talk about Frida Kahlo´s and her legacy with the world of art.  We’ll finish our walk by visiting La Casa Azul, the historic house and art museum dedicated to the life and work of this renowned Mexican artist.


Day 6 / Free Day 

Today you are free to roam in Mexico City and do any last minute activities or shopping you desire. We will meet for our farewell dinner where well discover Mexican folklore from dance, (dance, makeup, clothing).


Day 9 / Farewells

Check out is at 10am. Today we say goodbye to our #beautytravelers. It’s been one beautiful adventure. You are welcome to depart at anytime. Not ready to leave? We can help to extend your adventure.
