Aging Graziosamente: Years ago, I lived in Italy. Florence to be exact. Although it was a short stay, I will never forget the picturesque views, amazing food, and the beauty of the people. Scouring the markets looking for the latest and greatest fashion trends at the time (Italian leather boots anyone?) I never got the chance to explore the beauty side as much as I wanted to. Now back home and itching to visit Europe again, I have acquired just enough Italian beauty products to hold me over until my next visit.
As a self-proclaimed beauty enthusiast, I’m on a mission to age gracefully. In a world where there are so many products to choose from, the task is not that simple. A person might have skin sensitivities or unruly acne. I, for instance, suffer from hyperpigmentation and unsightly laugh lines. One thing is for sure, Italian beauty and personal care brands offer exceptional quality. Access to them is a lot simpler these days as The Italian Trade Agency and Cosmetica Italia have joined forces and created Beauty Made in Italy, a program focused on providing the latest and greatest to us from Italy (YAY!). Their mission is to blend exclusive quality ingredients with luxury.
Therefore, if you are on the hunt for quality skincare, I have done the work for you! Below I feature some of my favorite Italian skincare products! Che Viva Italia!
DISCLAIMER: Make sure you check the ingredient list before purchase if you are prone to skin allergies.
This is a great product, especially for winter when the face is dryer than normal. It’s a nourishing and supple treatment made from a blend of quality oils that have been naturally turned into a gel, allowing for it to be quickly absorbed into the skin. It does not contain preservatives, mineral oils, silicone or parabens. I use it in combination with my daily moisturizer, but it can also be used as a night serum and an ultra-nourishing mask (YAY to versatility!). Price: $98
SKIN & CO Roma is one of those brands on the rise. We recently were invited to a private truffle event hosted by SKIN&CO Roma in collaboration with Alessi, Gaggenau and Sabatino Truffles to kick off the 2019 Holiday Season. They teamed up with James Beard Honoree Chef, Paolo Amadori for this exclusive event, who masterfully crafted truffle dishes using Fresh Umbrian Truffles from their Farms in Umbria, Italy during the event. Some of our favorite products featured are below:
Truffle to eat, now truffle for the skin! Skin&Co Roma is a beauty brand that harvests the ultra-rare Black Winter Truffle, a mushroom overflowing with nutrients and antioxidants that finds cells damaged by free radicals and environmental aggressors. The mushroom helps to reverse and prevent further damage. Other key ingredients are Aloe Vera, Shea Butter, Hyaluronic Acid and Vitamin E. It’s lightweight, nourishing and easily absorbed into the skin leaving it luxuriously smooth. The plus side? It’s a great makeup primer. Price: $68
SKIN & CO Roma Truffle Therapy Radiant Dew Mist
This is the holy grail! I kid you not. Truffle Therapy Radiant Dew is a hydrating mist formulated to soothe, protect, and illuminate the skin. Made with Black Winter Truffle, Rosemary, Ginger Peppermint and Damascena Rose, this mist encourages a radiant complexion, while setting your makeup and protecting the skin from these environmental aggressors. Price: $35
Perlier Youth Serum Eye Contour
This is a truly innovative and exclusive eye serum made with Organic Italian Honey. It visibly reduces fine lines and wrinkles that form around the eye. I definitely noticed how it gradually reduced the puffiness under my eyes and their tired look. I did mention that I am trying to age gracefully?!… Hello Honey!! Price: $55
Borghese Roma Crema Saponetta Crème Cleanser
Old faithful! I have used this product for years! This is a gentle, water-activated cleanser that quickly dissolves, revealing healthy, refreshed and renewed skin. It’s a great makeup remover and tones the skin without drying it out. The aroma is pleasant. This cleanser provides the vital first step in my skincare regimen, no need for makeup wipes. I promise! Price: $35
Aging gracefully is not always easy! However, quality skincare regimen always helps. Additionally, do not forget to stay hydrated, eat healthy, exercise and sleep! You are welcome!

Posted at 14:00h, 27 NovemberI also have hyperpigmentation and I feel I don’t focus enough on a skin care regimen as much as I take good care of my hair 😩 I realized when I noticed breakouts and dullness. Will look into this more. I love this blog!

Posted at 16:08h, 26 NovemberSome of my favorite things to do on vacation is check out the local skin care especially in europe! A lot of the chemicals we’re used to in the US are banned so (I think they care a little bit more about their customers) haha. I’ll be sure to check these out on my next trip to Italy.
